Shadows on the Environment

You can't blame the developer for only showing the bottom floors of the skyscrapers in their literature. Skyscrapers on the Bayfront aren't something most of us want to see. Maps that only show the tops of the buildings and streets and sidewalks colored green are meant to mislead voters to believe this is a small family-friendly community with lots of parks and open space. We know that is not true, based on official project documents.

This view of the Marina Shores site is found on page 5-28 of the Environmental Impact Report. They show the shadows cast by the skyscrapers at 9am on a winter morning. Notice how they extend across Bair Island National Wildlife Refuge and the isolated peninsula on which this project is planned. You can also see from this view just how close to Highway 101 the towers are, and the one-lane road that will feed 14,000 daily auto trips to Whipple and Woodside roads.
